Harwood

Part of Bradshaw, this lies between Castle Hill in the south and Bromley Cross to the north.

The name has two possible sources. One is from 'the wood where hares abound' or the Old English 'har' meaning grey or hoary, meaning the grey wood. The word 'har' also means boundary. It has been spelled Harewode in 1212.

To the east is Harwood Lee underneath Affetside. Longsight Park is in Harwood.
